Why does everyone hate country music?
|

One of my teachers recently tweeted about how our oldies station down here was replaced by “country garbage.” Now, as a country music fan, it actually bothered me a little bit because Its not just him, lots of people im friends with hate on it all the tme even though we all live in the south.
Ok, I’m a punk rock fan, sure. I respect just about all music in some way or another. But before anything else, I live in the deep south. I have lived around country music my whole life. Country music is meant to be relatable, or at least that’s how its been described to me at one point. Some things aren’t so relatable, like, unlike the Toby Keith song, we aren’t all just drunk americans. It does get a bit out of hand at times, with everyone drinking all the time and piling up on the tailgate and especially how women in some of the songs are portrayed, but then there are songs like “Girl in a Country Song” by Maddie and Tae which tackles all of that.
